George Frangoulis is the founder and CEO of Independent Media Today. He is also currently the owner and Publisher of The Evergreen Press in Albion, Maine. In 1973, he launched the Farmstead Press. a magazine and book publishing company. Its pilot publication was Farmstead Magazine, the

national journal of home gardening and small farming.


In 1988, he merged Farmstead Magazine with The Mother Earth News. That year he also began an academic career as a university professor of journalism and publishing at the University of Alabama’s College of Communication.


He is an alumnus of The University of Michigan and holds degrees in English, journalism and media studies. He taught college classes for over 30 years. These also include stints at the University of Montevallo and Judson College, until recently retiring from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.





Today, there are many people creating and operating independent media outlets. Most notably are those with their own YouTube channels: Jim Acosta, Jack Cocchiarella, Jesse Dollemore, David Feldman, Ben Meiselas, Keith Olbermann, David Reddish, Joe Rogan, Angie “Pumps” Sullivan and Jennifer Welch.
